Freediving Courses

The most important rule of freediving is: “Never dive alone!” Freediving can be dangerous if practiced alone and without a trained buddy.

Without taking a course, learning the necessary skills is slow or even impossible. With our instructors, you can refine your skills starting from the basics—relaxed and pressure-free. So don’t waste your time; join our courses to learn freediving skills!

PROMISE

We promise that after completing the course, you’ll be able to dive more calmly and farther than before! Additionally, you’ll join a vibrant and supportive freediving community!

We mainly organize AIDA freediving courses in the Jyväskylä area. However, if you have a group or club interested in freediving, contact us, and we’ll organize a course anywhere in Finland. More information about upcoming courses can be found in the event calendar.

Introduction to Freediving

Curious about freediving but not sure if you’re ready for a full course?

Try a session with an instructor in the pool to see what it’s all about. This is also a great option for work or bachelor party groups!

AIDA1 Beginner Course

The beginner course provides fundamental knowledge of freediving. Through theory and a mix of dry and pool exercises, we explore breathing and relaxation techniques, diving techniques, and safety measures. This course is suitable for everyone interested in freediving and prepares participants to practice safely.

The AIDA 1 course has no passing requirements. Participants must be able to swim at least 100 meters continuously and be at least 18 years old (16–17-year-olds can participate with parental consent). The course is held in a swimming pool.

AIDA2 Pool Freediver Course

The AIDA 2 pool freediving course is designed for anyone interested in freediving with prior water activity experience, such as swimming, scuba diving, or snorkeling. The course provides the skills needed to practice freediving safely and with ease.

You can later complement your skills by becoming an AIDA 2 Freediver through an open water depth diving session.

AIDA2 Freediver Open Water Course

Open water diving is the highlight of freediving! That’s why we train in pools during the winter to be in top shape for open water in the summer.

In Finland, you can learn to dive safely in natural waters or specific open quarries. This course focuses on the fundamentals of depth diving, emphasizing safety. You’ll learn how to work with a buddy to ensure safe dives and master equalization techniques to dive up to 20 meters deep.

Finland’s clear lakes and open quarries provide ideal conditions for learning deep diving safely.

AIDA3 advanced freediver

The AIDA 3 course takes you deeper into the world of freediving. You’ll explore:

– How carbon dioxide affects the body
– Advanced Frenzel equalization techniques
– Partnered diving techniques
– The art of “free fall” during deeper dives
– Proper training methods for the sport

AIDA4 master freediver

The highest level of AIDA courses, focusing on depth diving and advanced techniques.
